At SLSF Nepal, we are driven by a mission to empower and support the healthcare journey of critically ill children. We work alongside healthcare providers to bridge gaps in care, ensuring that children and their families have access to the treatments and resources they need. From facilitating early cancer diagnosis to assisting with life-saving treatments, we step in where support is needed most—making a meaningful difference in children's lives and their futures.

Founder

Sangita Basnet, MD FAAP FCCM

Dr. Basnet, Pediatric Critical Care specialist trained in the USA, returned to Nepal to enhance pediatric care. She discovered that extreme poverty significantly impacts outcomes for critically ill children, as families often cannot afford treatment, resulting in tragedy. She enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.

Janak Koirala, MD MPH FACP FIDSA

Dr. Janak Koirala, Professor Emeritus from Southern Illinois University, returned to Nepal in 2020. Now at Patan University of Health Sciences, he founded Nepal's first ID Fellowship and led recovery efforts after the 2015 earthquake and COVID-19. He enjoys hiking and caring for his Father.

Sucharita Tuladhar, MD

Dr. Sucharita Tuladhar is a pediatric hematologist oncologist and advocate for children's health. After her fellowship, she launched a Hematology-Oncology service at PAHS for underserved communities in Nepal. She has improved cancer care and participates in awareness initiatives. Her dedication led her to Save Little Souls Foundation.

Ms. Bandana Thapa

Ms. Bandana Thapa is a devoted community leader committed to service. Her journey with Save Little Souls Foundation began with a simple belief that every child deserves a chance at healthy living. A retired Compliance Officer at Nepal Investment Bank, she also sits on the board of Saja Yatayat, a Co-op bus company. Renowned for her kindness and integrity, she cherishes time with family.

Sunita Sijapati Basnet

Ms. Sunita Sijapati Basnet is a dedicated mother and partner at Buddha Air. As a passionate advocate for children, she brings her educational expertise to Save Little Souls Foundation, focusing on healthcare for critically ill children. Her kindness drives her mission to bring joy to children and caring for those around her.

Astha Basnet Thapa

Astha Basnet Thapa is the Executive Director of Buddha Air and founder of BuddhaTech. A Kathmandu University graduate, she founded ASHA to improve school attendance for girls by building toilets with water access in rural areas. Passionate and dedicated, she focuses on Nepal's growth while enjoying time with her baby daughter and German Shepherd.
